These salt licks are extremely popular.  They are literally rock hard, which makes them ideal for using in the field as well as stable.  The distinctive rose colour comes from the salts' high mineral content, such as Iron, Potassium and Magnesium.  Horses are unable to bite chunks off them and they won't dissolve when wet.
